HIDDENITE ARTS & HERITAGE CENTER
GOAL
As an addition to Building Science graduate student Leah Simmerman’s master’s thesis, present a design for the second floor art gallery in the Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center.
SOLUTION
Expanding upon Leah's research, the new design features freshly painted walls, new LED track lighting, and mobile walls for extra display space. All molding is to be carefully restored or replicated to match the original architecture of the house. Opening up all of the windows and doors will increase natural lighting and decrease moisture issues within the space, while a UV protectant film protects artwork on display. After presenting the research and design scheme to the Hiddenite Board of Directora, this architecturally unique historical landmark is to be renovated to restore stability and function of the space.
CONCEPT
A clean and neutral palette accented by angles and green hues inspired by the Hiddenite gemstone
