PERSIAN RESTAURANT
GOAL
Design an upscale, modern dining experience that introduces authentic Persian culture and cuisine to the residents and visitors of Washington, D.C.
SOLUTION
By incorporating elements of Persian culture and architecture in the material selections, decor, and overall design, I created an authentic Persian atmosphere with a modern twist. Both Universal and Green Design features are present throughout the restaurant, including LED lighting, accessible bar seating, and environmentally friendly finish selections. This comprehensive design includes restroom design, lighting design, and back of house space planning. To complete the Persian experience, high ceilings, bright rooms, and floor-style family seating mimic traditional dining customs of the culture. This project was entered into the 2015 Cooper Source Awards Lighting Design Competition.
CONCEPT
Persian rugs are the storybooks of Persian culture, both ancient and modern-day. Culture House Persian Restaurant tells a story of Persian culture through the unique design elements and structure of Persian carpets.
