RESIDENTIAL COTTAGE
GOAL
Furnish a coastal cottage for a non-traditional family using only products from High Point Design Center members, with items from at least 30 showrooms.
SOLUTION
To brighten up the home, the color palette consists of warm ocean blues, sandy whites, and pops of coral from the surrounding environment. Natural wood and shell elements bring the outdoors in, with some metallic decor to represent the glittering waves. French doors can be opened to let in the refreshing ocean breeze. To accommodate guests, the sleeper sofa and drop-leaf dining table provide flexible solutions. Also, environmentally friendly materials and finishes were selected throughout the home. Overall, this design promotes a more cheerful and healthy lifestyle for the family. This project was entered into the 2014 High Point Design Center Unity in Design Competition.
CONCEPT
A widowed father and his teenage daughter are redecorating their home in sunny Southport, NC to begin a new chapter of their lives. Inspired by the coast, bright colors and natural elements make the home feel cheerful and relaxing.
